A wedding turns bloody

A man has killed 19 people in Burundi after hurling a grenade into his brother's wedding party.

The brother of the groom, who is suspected of carrying out the attack, was arrested in the central Gitega province, police officials said on Sunday.

"The grenade was launched into a crowd of people at the wedding ceremony," Pierre Ntarabaganyi, a police spokesman, said.

The attack is believed to have followed a land dispute.

Dozens of guests were also hurtbut the groom and his wife survived.

Burundi is emerging from more than a decade of ethnic war that has killed 300,000 people.

A recent UN study said there are still hundreds of thousands of illegal weapons in the country.
