Does Burundi have a Hope beyond 2010?
Yesterday I participated in the ceremony of swearing in Barack Obama as president of the United States. Everyone was invited, so was I. As I watched everyone cheer, I was reserved although my emotions were as high as everyone else's in the crowd. I was reserved because I kept remembering my people in the villages of Bujumbura rural, Ruyigi, Nyaza Lac, in Kurundo who can hardly afford a single meal a day...I remembered my fellow Burundians Alexis Sinduhije, Jean Claude Kavumbagu and so many other Burundians who are encarcerated because of their opinion or their potentiality...I wanted to scream aloud enough to let them (Burundians) know that THEIR DAY WILL COME. When I got home, I opened the blog and found a comment on one post about Senators refusing the proposed CENI members. This comment by Janvier confirmed my fears.
Every one needs change...Burundi does not only need change, it needs a LIFE...there are actions that bring about Life and change...Abarundi rero dukwiye gukura amaboko mu mpuzu canke ururimi mu munwa. We can: but we need that Leader who has a VISION and we have such leaders in Burundi..The time to fear a government is over...We who are outside can talk, but people who are in the country can talk as well...All we need is to mobilize people for peaceful reclamation of our basic lives...whatever it takes...Burundians can no longer dance to the music of ignorance nor can we all be blind to the politics that send us to our knees to worship our fellow Burundians: Na Rugereka twaramutsinze. We have to say NO to a government that oppresses its subjects. Politicians need to know our expectations.
To the politicians, we can no longer worship you: Regardless of which party or province you are from, we all know that all you bring to the table is the same things we have seen. For example most of the politicians that we know well have been in Kigobe from the time I was learning to speak: who does not remember Kigobe, Kajaga...name it: don't you remember those names? Since then, what have they done for us? Seriously? All we know is that they don't pay taxes...Abarundi bashora ibitoke bagurisha amafaranga 200 y'amarundi nibo bayagabura na reta....When we go to bed hungry, you don't miss Saga plage; when we cannot afford to pay the hospital fees, you send your kids in South Africa for headache treatment...
We hail the move to refuse the members of the CENI, but we need bold moves: Get together and come up with A Leader for 2010. Show us you are not there for yourselves. We all know that they will be only one president following the election and we all know that we do not need someone who can do what everyone can do. We need a VISIONAIRE.
There are reports that CNDD-FDD is mobilizing its youth to intimidate citizens in some provinces in forms of sport activities....Turazi ko ivyo vyataye igihe, are they forming another Sans Echec? Did they learn from it all...We stand to remind them that the power to conquer Burundi is in the mind...the time for oppressive power is over, Now it is time of Creative power. We also know that FNL still have some militants who might be tempted to use such power: Vugaduhabwe tells you the same...Use that energy to build!
Vugaduhabwe refuses to affiliate itself with any political party...we stand for those Burundians who are tired of a government they elected...You do not need a political affiliation to be frustrated....But if you read this blog, you know that you participate in the discussion: to spread the word that Burundians deserve better...that we can claim our Hope! Throughout the coming months, we will keep challenging the Burundian public to stand for ourselves... Because Hope is a very dangerous thing to loose!
So keep talking...

Thanks Vugaduhabwe for live overage from WH-DC
I hope many Burundians have witnessed.
The change that People can believe'n.
I thought Burundians can pick up 1 or 3words from US
"YES WE CAN"
But the questions remain: can we really Change da voice of voiceless?
The answer is simple "YES WE CAN"
Can the Burundians elect the good leaders for it its citizens?
YES WE CAN"
CAN Burundian change their politics of divisions, oppression, corruption, injustice and criminal minds?
Yes we can!
So that is it! Let's then wait 2010.
Once again thanks for Vugaduhabwe!

I think Kabila is Screwing up! We hope all this nonsense of theirs does not affect Burundi (of course it does). We have enough problems we do not have the guts to handle more. Good luck to Congo
Kibinakanwa
Hey, Burundians did not have any interest in Congo, maybe ..hey in Somalia.
Vugaduhabwe, thx 4 being there for us, I means at Obama'one.
I though yr news should be in Kirundi... at least ...Head news
But this is my views
Claude
Claude, thanks for the constructive comment...We will definetly consider putting at least thoughts, releflections and comments in Kirundi: The problem is that most of the texts, analysis and news are published either in French or English and none of our moderators is a professional translator, but we will definetly incorporate Kirundi and swahili in the picture...However, we wish to keep a broad audience.
Thanks
Vugaduhabwe
I don't mind what language I think we all understand the content but mixting with some fun stories like the one above is btful...we can't remain always in politics
